Our New Neighbourhood... almost

We'll be moving to the Plateau neighbourhood in a couple of weeks so we decided to walk around and get to know the area.  It's full of bars, cafes, shops, bakeries and parks.  It's kinda like Kits on steroids.

Behind me is our new
apartment.
Parc La Fontaine.
(I think it means the fountain park)
Ubisoft has been a lot of fun so far.  A couple of weeks ago they announced my project, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.  The latest game in the Assassin's Creed franchise, it takes place during the golden age of piracy in 18th century Caribbean.  The announcement has been well received and there's a lot of excitement for the game!  Everyone's been positive except for PETA, who have a problem with whaling section of the game.
Here's a promotional poster!
A view from the roof at work.

We went out to celebrate St. Patty's day at Hurley's Irish Pub.  Great Irish band and dancers... not most authentic Irish food though!  It was fun, but of course we missed everyone!

Ice Fishing!!!

We went ice fishing on the St. Laurence river which seemed like it might be dangerous, but turns out the ice was three feet deep.  We didn't catch anything but both got sweet sunglasses tans!!!

We also went for a 'hike' to the 'mountain'.  It was pretty slushy so we figured we'll come back when the snow melts... in another month or two.

Bonjour Everyone!

We've been in Montreal for two weeks now. The move here went smoothly and thanks to everyone for their help and support. We've been staying at a hotel downtown near Old Montreal and have a great view of all the protests.  We'll probably be here until April when we can move into an apartment.

The cat was not impressed with being
stuffed in a cage for 6 hours.

Here's a giant protest!
Here's the view from our hotel, sans protest.

Montreal's a great city!  The people are friendly and the food is great.  We arrived in here at a great time.  We've been able to enjoy Lumiere Festival, which is a night time outdoor event with performers, concerts, food, beer gardens,  ice sculptures and restaurant specials in various locations around the city.  Last night was the finale, Nuit Blanche, which went from 8pm to 3am.  We made it to about midnight and then had to go home because we couldn't feel our toes.

Here is Old Montreal's bustling marina.

Lumiere Festival!
The firepit didn't do a very good job
 of keeping us warm.
We found something even better than poutine.
Montreal Smoked Meat Pizza!

Work has been going well, except I keep getting lost because the office is a giant building that used to be textile factory.  Lauren has applied at about a dozen places online and will be going door to door next week.  We had a great time watching the Oscars (except for that dreadful Seth MacFarlane) and celebrated Life Of Pi taking home best Special FX.
Celebrating my first and possibly only Oscar win with movie co-star Richard Parker.
I'm wearing a green shirt to support my fellow FX Artists.

 Bye everyone.  We miss you!!!
